Festa Italiana
Festa Italiana is about all things Italy! The three day October event is a celebration of Merredin’s Italian community and recognition of their contribution to our town.
Immerse yourself in the delicious food tastings of the Golden Sausage event, afternoon tea and a dinner show. Learn the art of Italian cooking with live demonstrations from Daniela and Stefania (My Kitchen Rules past contestants).
Are you a sports fan? There will be soccer and bocce games to join in. You can make a family team! Maybe a round of cards is more your thing? You bet there will be some good games. Don’t forget your poker face!
Not only is the weekend a celebration of the families living in Merredin today, but also of the past. The Destination Merredin team are working with our Italian community to showcase the history of our Italian families, with some records dating right back to 1899! These records will be on display for you to soak up the history and strength of the Italian family life.
The weekend of the 14, 15 and 16th October will be jam packed full of exciting things to see and do. For more information contact Marilyn on 9041 3033
Elder’s Golden Sausage
Do you make the best sausages?
Elder’s are hosting their annual Golden Sausage event on Friday 14 October at the Tivoli Room (Cummins Theatre). You can send in your sausages to be in the running for the Golden or Silver Sausage awards, or you can come as a sausage taster. Either way, it is sure to be fun for a good cause!
Elder’s are proudly supporting local charities and are donating money raised from this event to St John’s Ambulance and the Royal Flying Doctor’s Service.
Daniela and Stefania – Cooking Demonstrations
Daniela and Stefania, two lovable cousins, who were contestants on My Kitchen Rules in 2011 will be coming to Merredin for Festa Italiana. The ladies will be sharing their love of cooking in two demonstrations on Saturday 15 October at Merredin Recreation Centre.

They will be cooking a savoury dish in the morning demonstration, and showing us their signature sweets in the afternoon.
Tickets to these demonstrations can be purchased from the Central Wheatbelt Visitor Centre or online on TryBooking.com.
Soccer, Bocce and Cards
Football West are conducting a soccer clinic and modified soccer competition on 15 October during the Festa Italiana weekend. The clinic begins at 10:00am and the competition kicks off at 11:00am with trophies to follow.
Merredin also welcomes the Laguna Veneto Bocce Club who is hosting the round robin bocce competition on 15 October. All members of the community, not matter your skill level, are invited to register for the friendly competition. Why not arrange a team with you family or your mates?
